Ttweak asked CORE to design the text component they conceived for the Allen’s Landing Site in downtown Houston. The text, sandblasted in concrete, includes excerpts of the 1836 text by the Allen Brothers, measuring approx 50 feet across. The Wharf area text, includes a listing of a variety of imported and exported goods common along the banks of Buffalo Bayou in Houston’s earlier days. CORE’s typographic design eludes to the format of 19th Century advertisements.
